So...I am sitting in CHO, taking advantage of the Wireless here as I wait for my plane...I wonder if a week back in my home-town is going to be too much time there...I found out that the New Year's Eve party I was scheduling to make sure I would hit is actually happening 3 days early...so I could have come back and made a party in C'ville as well...oh well.

I am on Friendster and Myspace now...anyone who has accounts there and wants to network, leave a comment [I can't recall the exact URL atm]

Marianne just drove away.

Marianne and I have been best friends for about 5 years, and more than best friends for the majority of that period. She is the first "best friend" for whom the appelation was reciprocal. I have historically been the sort of loser that can't find a "mutual best friend," but had to settle for the more one-way variety. Anyway, she's gone now.

I've never lost a best friend before, and by "lost" I mean simply no longer knowing when they will be around again. I assume I should be counting my blessings, but right now I feel 8 shades of lonely.

Is it ironic that someone so introspective and introverted is having so much trouble being away from everyone he cares about [again]? Probably not. Maybe this is the fruits of being in 5 different locations over the course of the last 10 years. Or perhaps it is just my rather unendearing demeanor. I'd like to say it comes from caring more about ideas than people, but it doesn't make it cut any less.

If anyone out there has a hug for me, I'll gladly take it now.

Today, Marianne and I drove out on a many-hour shopping excursion. Mostly we just wanted to spend some time together before she leaves tomorrow :(. I managed to find some cargo pants and a few other goods that I think I may have a use for.

I was going to buy a digital camera [which would make me 2/3 of a real person, for I already have a laptop but lack a cell phone]. But I just could not bring myself to buy it, as I don't forsee necessarily needing it.

Because the people in Virginia have no clue how to deal with a snowstorm, school was cancelled again today. This means that my winter break started yesterday, and I just didn't know it.

However, it almost doesn't count because I had to wake up at 6:30 in the morning to find out that my waking up early was unneeded...still, I'll take that over work.

Since I don't know who the hell anyone is...I'm just going to be a lame-o and ask anyone who knows me to drop a line so I can pretend I have friends.

So...I was finally roped into joining LJ by gishmi1ish....and by "roped" I mean she mentioned she had a live journal page, and while reading it I decided "fuck, here I am in the middle of nowhere...I may as well reconnect with all the people I wish I could be around right now..." or maybe I just wanted to find another diversion from doing anyting that could count as constructive.

However, since I have nothing particularly interesting to write about [or, rather, I have used so much time already reading other LJ pages that I really should go and do something more productive.] ... I guess I will be trying to find all the Phi Tau people and others scattered around cyberspace.
